Big Jim's Roast Beef is the vision of chef James “Big Jim” Jones.
In 2016, Jim packed up his life and left New England for sunny California. Making San Diego home came naturally to Jim, due to the vibrant culinary atmosphere.
Embracing his New England roots Jim introduced Pacific Beach to the North Shore Style of roast beef sandwiches.
Two years later, in 2020, he was a fixture at the San Diego farmers markets, slinging beef at local breweries, all while gaining loyal customers and friends at catering events.
Jim created a new life in PB while honoring his New England upbringing. In September of 2023, Jim opened his brick and mortar location on Cass Street. Anyone who knows Jim can attest that he always ‘goes big’ with any venture.
Opening weekend of Big Jim’s Roast Beef was no exception. Jim planned a wedding, had his entire crazy New England family visit, to celebrate his marriage to the beautiful and amazing Taylor! And of course, the Grand Opening of Big Jim’s Roast Beef.
Jim is not stopping with roast beef! At his new location on Cass Street the menu has grown to include some of his hometown favorites such as, hot and cold subs, sandwiches, and some killer homemade onion rings.
Being able to grow has not swayed Big Jim's Roast Beef from staying true to where you come from and remains a dedicated part of the Ocean Beach Farmers Market on Wednesdays (4-8pm) and Oceanside Sunset market on Thursdays (4-9pm) serving up the Superbeef.
